Dave Roode – President – dave.roode@timbermart.ca

Dave is a second generation member of the Roode family to work at HubCraft, following in his father, the founder, Carl’s footsteps. He graduated from Saint Mary’s University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is approaching 50 years of full-time service. Dave married the love of his life, JoAnne, in 1983 and together they have raised two wonderful children, Marissa and Matthew, who have followed Dad into the family business. Dave also has a passion for sports with his beloved teams, the Chicago Blackhawks, Cleveland Indians, and Philadelphia Phillies at the top of his list. He still holds out the hope that his Cleveland Browns are finally on their way to building that Super Bowl team he longs for. Four furry family members (Golden Retrievers) Kane, Toews, Magnuson and Teravainen also have a special place in Dave’s heart.

Fun Fact: Dave’s favourite team, the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup in ‘61 and didn’t win again until 2010, the year Dave celebrated his 61st birthday.

Marissa Roode – Store Manager – marissa.roode@timbermart.ca

Marissa is part of the third generation to work at HubCraft. She loves being a part of the family business and the HubCraft team. She enjoys the busy atmosphere of working in the building supply industry coupled with the small-town feel of knowing and helping people throughout the community. Marissa has been part of the framework of HubCraft for over a decade and is grateful for the opportunity to be able to work with her family. She is also thankful for her coworkers, who feel just like family. In her spare time, Marissa enjoys a number of sports, including baseball, ball hockey, soccer, and she is the captain of her ice hockey team. In addition to playing sports, Marissa is passionate about all things yoga and over the years has expanded her practice, becoming a certified Yoga Teacher, Paddleboard Yoga Instructor, and Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist.

Fun Fact: Marissa is always in search of her next outdoor adventure- hiking, trail running, or kayaking!

April Teed – Assistant Manager – april.teed@timbermart.ca

April was drawn to the building supply industry and HubCraft by her creative and innovative nature. April realized her love of DIY projects and home renovations was pointing her toward a career in building materials! April loves to organize and takes great pride in her work, all with a smile on her face. From a young age, April has been an athlete at heart, enjoying hiking, fishing, baseball, and volleyball. April spends a lot of her time with her family and you can often find her in a gym, alongside her husband Chris, watching their daughter Haley playing highly competitive volleyball.

Fun Fact: April is also the mom of two fur babies – Brooke and Lucy!

Scott Fraser – Kitchen Design – scott.fraser@timbermart.ca – sfraser38@hotmail.com

Scott has been working at HubCraft for more than two decades and first began as a salesperson on the front counter. In 1998 HubCraft expanded their business and began offering custom designed kitchen cabinets from Island Cabinet Shop located in Cape Breton. He soon began designing and coordinating the installation of the cabinets on a full-time basis. Scott enjoys the design aspect of the business and finds it fulfilling to experience the transformation a new kitchen can provide in a new home or as an upgrade to an older home. Scott enjoys being involved in sports and continues to play hockey in the winter and races motocross in the summer. When not at the rink or at the track, he also enjoys fishing, hiking, waterskiing, and spending time at the lake.

Fun Fact: Scott has won nine regional championships and placed 9th at the Canadian nationals in Motocross.

Jim Peters – Customer Service – jim.peters@timbermart.ca

Jim has worked for HubCraft for over 30 years. He very much enjoys working for the Roode family and with his coworkers. He really likes dealing with the public and meeting all of the people that working in a retail environment provides. Jim has three children: Matt, Chris, & Ashley; as well as his six grandkids: Annabeth, A.J., Jake, Violet, Morgan, & Wyatt. Jim plays baseball and golf throughout the summer months and as much hockey as he can in the winter.

Fun Fact: Jim has played in five National Old-Timers Baseball Tournaments across Canada.

Chris Cooper – chris.cooper@timbermart.ca

Chris was born and raised in the lovely valley of Upper Stewiacke. He has been working in retail for over a decade and his attentiveness and friendliness certainly radiate through his customer service. There’s never an idle moment with Chris- you can find him attending to customers, stocking shelves, answering the phones, or keeping the store looking sharp by merchandising or organizing. Chris has a quick wit and enjoys conversing and building relationships with customers. At home, Chris can be found enjoying time with his family – including his two young sons. An athlete at heart, Chris plays hockey, soccer, baseball, and can be often seen at the rink coaching his sons’ team or outside enjoying the great outdoors.

Fun Fact: Chris is an avid Leafs fan!

Nick Sutherland – Boom Truck Operator

Nick is our Boom Truck Operator and has been an essential part of HubCraft for nearly 20 years. Born and raised in River John, Nick regularly displays that he is a dedicated and reliable employee. Nick enjoys being one of our in-house “mechanics” and is always ready to offer a solution to any problem. At home, Nick and his wife, Melissa, have two beautiful children, Kaylee and Cole. Nick’s hobbies include working on vehicles, fixing up things around the house and snowboarding.

Fun Fact: Growing up, Nick had to fend for himself with three sisters and no brothers!
